Equipment training from Year 13's
In our lesson last week the year 13's came in and talked to us about how to use the cameras and the tripods that go with them. We were told about a few rules. Firstly the 180 degree rule, this rule means that when filming the characters in the scene must always have the same left/right relationship to each other, this means that character 1 will always be on the left and character 2 will always be on the right. If the filmmakers were to go over the imaginary line then they would be filming a reverse angle shot on the opposite side. We always learnt about how to film a panning shot, this is where the tripod is used, the filmmaker slowly moves the tripod with the camera attached to it to either side so it is keeping up with the person walking across. This information was used to help us with the preliminary task that we have been set.
